Ordinary Supergoddess

Welcome to my blog!

I am a military (supergoddess) spouse who is ready to share my story and you can read about my beginnings here.

I began my career as an English teacher but that didn’t last long. Once I realized how difficult it was to maintain that life with my spouse gone frequently, I enrolled in school to get my Master’s degree in English as a Second Language teacher. This allowed me to teach at a university part-time so I could be home with my kids.

After 25 years of teaching on and off, I decided that I didn’t feel the pull to be in the classroom again. So I took a shot and tried writing. I currently write for two military spouse online publications. I thoroughly enjoy it but I also wanted to tell my story without limitations.

That’s where the blog comes into play. My children and spouse encouraged me to begin and so I have.

Every week, I’ll post my own musings and if I’m lucky, posts from my other writing gigs. I hope you enjoy my journey and can find some kinship in what I say.Because while I am a military spouse, I am so much more. My parlay into that group will be coming to an end once my spouse retires but my exploration of life will continue.

The title of my blog is “Ordinary Supergoddess” and it comes from the Liz Phair song, “Extraordinary“.  In it, she talks about how she is an every woman. Nothing special but special at the same time.

“I am extraordinary, if you’d ever get to know me
I am extraordinary, I am just your ordinary
Average every day sane psycho
Supergoddess”

I’m calling on all supergoddesses to join me as we explore life, love, and all things in between.
